Sentencing 2
The
burglar shot by farmer Tony Martin was back
behind bars after being convicted for the
THIRTY-SEVENTH time. But Brendan Fearon, 32, will
STILL torment Martin by continuing to
claim £15,000 damages for leg injuries he
received during the raid in which fellow thug
Fred Barras, 16, was shot dead. Fearon was jailed
for 18 months for supplying heroin to a pal in
police custody. He put a wrap into
the mouth of the drug addict as he was being led
to a van outside Newark police station, Notts. A
jury at Nottingham Crown Court took just 12
minutes to convict Fearon despite his name being
hidden in case it influenced their verdict. He
earlier admitted possessing cannabis.
Martin, 57, had a life sentence for the shootings
in Emneth, Norfolk, reduced to manslaughter.
Fearon, of Newark, Notts, served 18 months for
the Martin burglary. But he was still granted
legal aid to sue for compensation, saying he is
unable to work. He also said the injuries
affected his sex life making it impossible to
sustain an erection. The yob claimed he was now
scared of fireworks, cannot watch shoot-outs on
TV and becomes very tearful if he
sees a film in which someone dies.
Fearon has lived a life of crime, but got away
with slaps on the wrist for six years before
being locked up. Even then he got only one month.
